Police in Papua New Guinea's Western Province have placed a temporary ban on the movement of people along the PNG-Australian-Indonesian borders until the end of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders' Week.
The National newspaper reported the acting South Fly police commander, Inspector Soiwa Ricker, saying they have also stopped the movement of people travelling by sea between Western and Gulf.

He said they aimed to secure the international borders to stop foreigners travelling to Port Moresby to disrupt the summit.

The ban is to stay in place until 1 December.

Inspector Ricker said they had also recruited villagers to provide information on the movement of people along the borders.
