The Director General of Tourism, Trade, Industry, Commerce and ni-Vanuatu Business is meeting with kava producers today in the hope of establishing a Kava Council.
This would make it the first time ever for such a council to be formed.
It is intended that this kava council will guide the growth of the kava industry into the future.
This initiative comes after the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, talked about a lifting of sanctions on Kava imports to Australia.
Director Joy stated that Australia's move will come as a boost to Vanuatu's kava industry.
It is now over 12 years ago that Australia imposed restrictions on export of kava into the country.
