The country's first national referendum to amend the country's national constitution will be held on June 4th, 2019.

Government is planning a political reform to help address political instability in Vanuatu, and for this political reform to become effective, the national constitution has to be amended.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, and chairman of the political taskforce, Ralph Regenvanu confirmed that June 4th will be a national public holiday, to allow people of Vanuatu to vote in this referendum.

In another development, public consultations on the political reform will be held in the provinces, this month and early next month, before the national political reform on February 22nd.
