The Public Service Commission(PSC) has confirmed that newly appointed directors of government departments will begin official duties as from Monday next week, February 4th.

The commission says the new directors will be under a 3 year contract and if their performance is up to standard, the PSC will renew their contracts for another two terms, which means they can be in the position for nine years.

And their perfomance appraisal will be held every 12 months.

The Commission says the appointment process has been completed and the appointments will be made tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the appointment of the new Director Generals for the Prime Minister's office and the Ministry of Education, will also be made tomorrow.

The PSC has also confirmed that the severence payouts for the outgoing government department directors will be made tomorrow afternoon.

Chairman of the Public Service Commission met with the head of government, Prime Minister Charlot Salwai Tabimasmas earlier this week, and briefed him on the current updates.
